DESCRIPTION:
In frameworks of the project, 2 prototypes of a novel cooling system for oil power inverters will be developed and built, allowing to get rid of the oil as a heat transfer liquid. Thus, the possibility of fire is reduced, and the working temperature of the inverter is decreased down to 50-60 degrees centigrade, increasing its lifecycle. First prototype will eliminate the transformer oil completely, making the body frame functioning as a heat pipe, and the second will be built as an external shell, not making any changes to the inner structure of the apparatus. In order to increase the heat transfer, a novel microstructured surfaces will be created and tested, which will be used to cover the heat emitting areas of an inverter.
