Results of the Skoltech Translational Research and Innovation Program competition

Dear colleagues,

In April the Center of Entrepreneurship and Innovation of Skoltech started third round of the Translational Research and Innovation Program. For the first time the whole program was dedicated exclusively for Skoltech faculty. The selection process consisted of three stages and continued almost four months. Totally, 13 applications were submitted for participation including breakthrough projects in energy systems, new materials, social network tools, video conferencing, smart systems, healthcare and biomed. Highly qualified Russian and foreign experts, particularly technology entrepreneurs, investors, scientists, as well as Skoltech and Skolkovo Fund staff were engaged for projects evaluation. The criteria for the selection included background research data, technological and market risks, possibilities for the creation of new commercially attractive IP, project team, connections with potential customers, etc. One of the main stages of the selection process was 6th STRIP conference that was held on May 20 in Moscow.

All participants of the selection process improved their initial plans and received important feedbacks for future. We believe that all projects represent promising technologies that will help Skoltech to make impact both in Russia and globally. Finally, we are happy to announce the names of the seven winners who will realize their proof of concept studies within a framework of the Translational Research and Innovation Program. The program offers mentorship from leading experts who will also connect the projects with potential partners in Russia and abroad. The selected teams will get a priority access to special trainings as well as regular services of Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) and will receive financial support for their proof of concept.
