According to world statistics, diseases associated with the infectious process constitute a significant share in the structure of morbidity and mortality. The basis of effective treatment and preventive measures is the rapid and high-quality identification of the infectious agent. The existing methods of microbiological diagnostics, based on the cultivation of microorganisms on nutrient media, do not always meet the demands of modern clinical medicine and epidemiology. The final product that should be the result of an innovative project is a replicable universal mass spectrometer for the rapid identification of pathogenic microorganisms.
